Ex championship bull rider and new horse cowboy Jo Daniel’s can’t for the life of him remember how he ended sleeping in his horse trough in his front yard in nothing but a hat and boots. What he does know is he’s not ready to deal with the city girl staring down at him. In the Cowboy takes a bride by Lori Wilde Mariah Callahan walks away from everything after she loses her job travels to Jubilee Texas to sell property that her estranged father had left her. Little did Mariah know that before she left this run down property is next door neighbor is a sexy as sin cowboy that stirs something inside her she thought she had left behind.

Joe had decided long ago that he was going to spend the rest of his life alone; keeping his distance from any possible romantic relationships but when Mariah moves in next door Joe can’t help but stop by to assist her, despite the stern talking to he keeps giving repeating to stay away. Mariah is such an obvious ill-fit for Jubilee and has big city written all over herself but Mariah keeps working her way into the lives of the residents of Jubilee, so Joe starts to wonder if maybe this big-city girl doesn’t have a small-town girl hiding inside.

The Cowboy Takes a Bride was a very cute read. The opening scene was awesome with Joe waking up in the trough and Mariah trying to figure out why someone would be in a horse trough wearing nothing but boots and a Stetson but the rest of the story was okay. Mariah was a sympathetic character and Joe’s attitude was understandable given his past history. I enjoyed the story.
