Dire Wants: A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan - Stephanie Tyler Title: Dire Wants

Series: Dire bk 2

Author: Stephanie Tyler

Genre: Paranormal

The supernatural world is rising up against the human one. The weretrappers want control, and only the immortal Dire wolves stand in the way of total destruction. Stray, a Dire, and his long-lost brother, Killian, emerge as the leaders of their pack. To keep themselves and the humans safe, the Dires need a witch as powerful as Seb, who betrayed the Dires to work for the weretrappers.

They find what they are looking for in Kate, a human who survived a horrible car accident that left her back scarred with a handprint no one else can see. Stray senses Kate's abilities as a witch and recruits her to help the Dires—all the while knowing she is so powerful they will need to kill her once she helps defeat the weretrappers.

Stray doesn't expect the powerful connection that he feels with Kate, or his irresistible need to protect her. They cannot hide their feelings or each other, and what once was taboo now seems inevitable…

I've had this book sitting on my nightstand for weeks now and would pick it up and then put it down, never reading more than a page or two. When I finally said ok I have to read this book, I was completely sucked into the world of Dire's and Were's. I couldn’t read it fast enough and when I was finished I wanted more. More of the story, more of the characters, more of every part of this incredible world Stephanie Tyler has created.

Stray and Kate are perfect for each other. They both come from really bad childhoods, even though Stray is still considered a teenager in comparison to the other Dire's, and have a connection to each other. When they meet for the first time, they connect on an elemental level and then everything goes awry.

Because of the coming battle, Stray and Kate, have to learn to not only trust each other but also trust themselves. And not just themselves but also their abilities, and how they can help save the world. Kate because of how she was raised and Stray because of what was done to him as a child neither one of them have a lot of faith in much of anything, especially Kate. She lives in a world of fear and doesn't know how to shake it.

As Stray and Kate realize and accept who they are, they become whole for the first time. Kate and she understands why she was made a witch and Stray as he understands the truth about the sacrifice his brother made for him all those years ago. With these truth's their able to let down their walls and let each other in, making them even stronger.

One of the many things I liked about this book was how it doesn't take place over a week or a couple of days, and that there are multiple pov's, and secondary story lines, ones that I hope continue in the next book. The cast of characters in this series is relatively small and each of them have a huge personalities making you want to know them all immediately.

At the end of the book is an excerpt from the next book and I have to say that I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment of this Shifter series, that just might be my second favorite shifter series being written.
