Kissing the Maid of Honor - Robin Bielman Title: Kissing The Maid Of Honor

Series: A Secret Wishes Novel

Author: Robin Bielman

Genre: Romance

Blurb: Kissing her best friend’s brother never felt so right…

Sela Sullivan is resolved to be the best maid of honor ever, even if it means tolerating the best man. Insufferable, too-handsome Luke Watters is not only the guy who humiliated her at a kissing booth in high school, but he also happens to be her best friend’s older brother. Positive he’s the same arrogant jock, Sela vows to focus on her duties and steer clear of the frustrating—and frustratingly tempting—Luke.

As a world-renowned extreme-sports photographer, Luke is used to undertaking life-risking adventures. But risking his heart for the beautiful Sela Sullivan, who clearly still hates him for his rejection all those years ago? He didn’t see that coming. Sela inspires a passion he’s never known, and the more time they spend together, the more he craves her. But can he prove to the maid of honor he’s become a man of honor?

Thoughts: Sela has had a crush on her BFF's brother since forever - however, she has managed to avoid him (and pretty much convince herself that she hates him) after he embarrassed her at the kissing booth in high school by shoving her away and announcing that she "kissed like a corpse". After being known as Corpse Lips throughout the rest of high school, she was not pleased to find out that he would be playing best man to her maid of honor. So she makes a wish at the wishing well - but it doesn't quite work out the way she had planned!

Luke was surprised at how much he enjoyed the kiss laid on him by the young teenage Sela, and with her brother standing right there, he did the only thing he knew to do at the time! Make a big joke out of it - unfortunately it was at Sela's expense! When he comes home for his sister's wedding, he's stunned when the gorgeous beauty he sees at his family's house turns out to be Sela - and he can't seem to resist her!

I found the book to be a good solid story. It wasn't captivating, urging you to fly through the pages in spellbinding awe, but nothing really jumped out at me as wrong with the book either. It does fall a bit into the typical harlequin-type romance storyline, however there is nothing wrong with that - it just may not be everyone's cup of tea. The characters were sweet and endearing, and it was touching how much Sela cared for her best friend. Luke was likeable - but I did start thinking that he was a bit weak for not fighting for what he wanted. I understood that he had reservation about Sela due to his relationship with her brother, but when he hurt her again with a few ill-placed words I was a bit furious with his character! However, the writer makes up for it beautifully in the end! All in all, a good solid read!
